Star Saga Mission: A matter of antimatter

A matter of antimatter : Star Saga Mission

Mission Briefing

The mercanaries have been tasked with retrieving a highly destructive antimatter device from a CGPS splinter faction, hiding out in a laboratory based on the jungle planet Hodges Cairn.

Bad intel means that although the site was meant to have very little security, the mercs are up against highly trained Corporation Rangers (no flamers) and the standard security guards.

As the mercanaries enter the lab facility, the receive intel from their handler Blaine that the CGPS has also sent an enforcer agent Monarch to intercept the antimatter device before them.

The mercanaries must get the device and escape the facility before Monarch arrives.

Victory

Mercs win if they recover the antimatter device and escape. The device is located on the table in the main room of the map. Use the explosives bag peice to represent this item.

Reward = 1 skill upgrade

Nexus win if they kill all mercs or if Monarch gains possession of the device.

Mercenaries

At least 2 Mercs with shields or medikit capabilities.
3+ dice on shoot, assault and tech.

Nexus

Normal stack of cards, levels 1, 2 and 3 with Sleeping Gas cards included. Shuffled well.

Security guards on map at start (see pics).

All other reinforcements are Corporation Rangers armed with rifles (a max of 4 of these at any one time).

Terminals

All terminals firewall 2, with 2 'health'.
Small door doesn't need unlocking.

Loot

Only the small containers have a chance of loot.

*** Note that once a mercenary spends an action to pick up the antimatter device, the Nexus player immediately places the Monarch enforcer at the lower reinforcement point. Given that there will probably be some corporation rangers and security guards too, the mercenaries would do well to escape quickly, via the exit at the far end of the map.

Map

Start at the blue entry point.

That's it! Hope you have fun trying this out. Please let me know in the comments if have any thoughts, questions or suggestions.

Star saga homebrew missions

Hi there!

I've decided to post some of the homebrew missions for the excellent (and massively underrated) game Star Saga by Mantic Games.

Using only the core set, I have put together a few stand alone missions and thought I'd share them with you good folks.

Mapping

I've decided to use photos of the complete map set up, although you need only set up the revealed rooms as the game progresses. So as doors are unlocked and opened, new areas are revealed to the players.

The rest of the set up details will shown as per the standard Star Saga mission subheadings, as follows...

* Title
* Mission briefing
* Victory
* Mercenaries
* Nexus
* Terminals
* Loot

Anyway, let me know what you think!

iron bridge from scratch

Howdy geekfreaks! I've just put together a bridge as we've been lacking structures to link areas of terrain together, creating choke points, etc. Rather than go through what I did, I'll just put up pics of the progression. Plastic canvas, card, paint, dry brush, wash, paint highlights on high points.

concrete bunker for sci fi wargames

Hello again!

Seeing as we have some time stuck indoors at the moment I've been having a go at creating some more scenery for our sci fi wargames.

Its really rough but it's cheap and quick to make.

I also base coated and dry brushed a bunch of high quality cardboard boxes... More to follow...

star saga / deadzone homebrew scenery

I've been playing a homebrew crossover of Star Saga and deadzone by Mantic Games. It works great too. Simple and fast... Great for playing with my kids!  We've even experimented creating scenery...

 So this is just a basic silo made from a bisto gravy tub. More to follow...

First ever blog entry.

Welcome fellow geeks!

This blog is going to be based around my interest in sci fi and fantasy tabletop games.

At the moment, I'm enjoying playing the hidden gem Star Saga by Mantic Games, and having got the Mission and Character Creation expansion, I look forward to creating and sharing mission ideas and plans with you.
